Jessica Tseng, President

Biking Style: Mountain — XC, all-around, and e-MTB; downhill racer & certified MTB instructor.
Why I Ride: Mountain biking has taken me to the most beautiful places. This sport has taught me so many life lessons, perseverance, courage, and the importance of pushing boundaries and living life to the fullest.
Favorite Trails: Rocky Ridge (Santa Teresa Park) and Sawpit (Soquel Demo Forest).
Post-Ride Go-To: Giant salad or burger — always followed by something sweet.
Fun Fact: Breast cancer survivor and deeply devoted to advocacy, MTB skills coaching, and trail access. Her 13 year old son also races enduro and downhill.

Ed Dee, Vice President

Why I Ride: Freedom, flow, and immersion in nature. Mountain biking mirrors life — challenges, rewards, and lasting friendships.
Favorite Trails: The Whole Enchilada (Moab), Gooseberry Mesa (UT).
Post-Ride Go-To: Kölsch and a stacked steak burger.
Fun Fact: Loves multi-day adventures like the San Juan Hut route (Telluride to Moab) and endurance races like 24 Hours of Adrenaline. Favorite saying: “To go far, go together.”

Glenn Wegner, Treasurer

How I Got Into Biking: Started mountain biking in 1988, drawn by a love for the outdoors and local open space. Learned the area through early ROMP and Western Wheelers rides.
Favorite Trails: Fremont Older, Montebello/Stevens Canyon, and the technical climbs at El Corte de Madera (Manzanita & Resolution).
Post-Ride Go-To: Burrito and a beer (or soda).
Fun Fact: Once cleaned the entire South Leaf Trail on his ’88 Bridgestone MB3.

Charles Krenz, Director

Biking Style: Gravel & Mountain — anywhere cars aren’t.
Why I Ride: Great workout and total immersion in nature.
Favorite Trail: Dirt Alpine — a casual climb to the Peninsula crest with a 130-year history.
Post-Ride Go-To: Sparkling water with grapefruit juice.
Fun Fact: Filmmaker looking to collaborate on local MTB/gravel advocacy projects.

Trent Poltronetti, Director

Why I Ride: Fun with friends in beautiful places — and the workout is a bonus.
Favorite Trails: The one I get to ride that day.
Post-Ride Go-To: Burt Reynolds Burger and a Mind Haze at JT’s in Scotts Valley.
Fun Fact: Started mountain biking in the late ‘90s. Coaches a local youth MTB team and loves seeing kids’ smiles on the trail.

Jeff King, Director

Why I Ride: There’s nothing better than being outside on two wheels — it’s where I can slow down my racing mind and take in the beauty of nature.
Favorite Trails: I’m lucky to live in Los Gatos, where I ride most often, but the single-track in Santa Cruz is hard to beat.
Post-Ride Go-To: A cold IPA and a stacked sandwich from Los Gatos Meats or Summit Market — that’s my kind of recovery plan.
Fun Fact: In the early ’90s, I rode my GT mountain bike 1,500 miles across West Africa with my sister. In 2025, I completed the 400+ mile Bay Area Ridge Trail

Luke Peterson, Director

Biking Style: rubber side down, dirt > asphalt
Why I Ride: fun, health, camaraderie, to avoid driving, spending time outside with good people, sweet jump

Favorite Trails: Trione-Annadel, The Gateway Trail System, Tamarancho, Soquel Demonstration State Forest.
Post-Ride Go-To: the nearest coffee/burrito/burger shop.
Fun Fact: I taught a bicycle to ride itself

Dirk Franklin, Director

Biking Style: Mountain, Gravel and Road
Why I Ride: Keeps me healthy and happy. No better feeling than turning pedals with friends in amazing locations

Favorite Trails: Rocky Ridge, JNT, Santa Cruz, Soquel Demo Forest, Irish Hills, WCR and MDO (San Luis Obispo)
Post-Ride Go-To: Local Brew pub for Tri tip and a brew
Fun Fact: Co author of Fat Tire Fun The Mountain Biking Trail Guide for San Luis Obispo County


Mike Tkalcevic, Advisory Board Member

Biking Style: Mountain, with some commuting and family cruising.
Why I Ride: Wanderlust, fitness, and the beauty of the Bay Area’s landscapes.
Favorite Trails: Locally—Skeggs, Dirt Alpine, Russian Ridge; Regionally—Truckee area.
Post-Ride Go-To: Espresso and plenty of water.
Fun Fact: Also passionate about vintage Land Cruisers — another “n+1” habit.

Sean McKenna, Advisory Board Member

Biking Style: Mountain, gravel, and e-bike exploration.
Why I Ride: Exercise, nature, friendship, and the MTB community’s camaraderie.
Favorite Trails: Ridge to Sawpit at Soquel Demo Forest.
Post-Ride Go-To: Sandwich and a beer at Summit Store.
Fun Fact: Hiked most of the John Muir Trail twice, summited Mt. Whitney twice, and regularly hikes Rancho San Antonio.
