Oct. 1, 2025 Fortini Property Meeting

·

On October 1st, 2025, 6:30pm, Santa Clara County Parks (SCCP) will be presenting the Fortini Property Site Plan at the Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting. The Fortini Property is a 47-acre site with the potential for future multi-use trail connection between Santa Teresa Park’s Fortini entrance parking lot and Calero’s Rancho San Vicente Park. The Fortini Site Plan is  item #8 on the agenda for the meeting.

We ask for your help to attend this meeting and advocate for a bike skills park at this location.

Per the report that will be presented during the meeting, the options include several flat trails connecting the two parks, along with picnic areas, parking lots, and a traffic light for safe crossing on McKean.

This is a very large piece of land with space that may be used for a bike skills park or a pump track.

Current option proposed by SCCP:

If you are speaking, please review SVMTB’s guidelines for speaking located here. When speaking please be respectful of Santa Clara County Parks and other trail user groups!

You may provide comment several ways:

Subject: Comment regarding Fortini Site Plan, Oct 1 Parks and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting, County of Santa Clara

Dear Commissioners,

Thank you for putting together the presentation for the Fortini Property Site Plan proposals. I really appreciate everything the Parks and Recreation Commission and Santa Clara County Parks does for the public in providing open spaces for everyone to enjoy the outdoors!

I am very excited about the potential that the Fortini Property presents. I am a mountain biker and absolutely love being outdoors and very much appreciate this new project. [If relevant – I have a __ year old child who loves being on his bike and it’s a great way to get them outdoors and away from their devices.]

My family and I often mountain bike at Santa Teresa Park and Calero Rancho San Vicente and you may know that both parks are very popular with mountain bikers so we really appreciate Santa Clara County Parks creating these wonderful open spaces. Because these two parks are frequented by mountain bikers our community would very much appreciate a bike skills park/pump track on the Fortini Property for kids to enjoy. Because the Fortini property is a large flat piece of land, this is a perfect place for young kids and beginner bike riders to learn how to ride their bikes.

Many local communities have recently invested in bike skills parks/pump tracks in their communities. These small spaces bring together people of all ages from young toddlers to adults, are low maintenance, and can accommodate kids on scooters and skateboards as well. Recent examples of pump tracks that have been built include:

  • Gloria Jean Tate Pump Track in Marina, CA
  • Flood Park Pump Track in Menlo Park, CA
  • West Side Pump Track in Santa Cruz, CA
  • Tennyson Park Pump Track in Hayward, CA (opened a few weeks ago)

Thank you so much for your attention to this.
